Report of Recent Activities
This past year has seen us exploring a wide variety of archaeological timescales with visits to Taunton Museum and Old Sarum as well as a walking tour of Abbotsbury.
In the classroom we learnt how Roman mosaics are lifted, about Cornwall's mining heritage and the numerous windmills in Dorset, discussed the problems of "looted treasures" and were fascinated by the possibilities of archaeological dowsing - among many other topics.
Members gave short talks on Runestones, the local Roman aqueduct , and Dorset castles.
All in all another fascinating year, with plenty to learn and lead us onto further discoveries. If you are interested in where we came from as well as what lies beneath the soil, do come and join us in our 2020 explorations - the programme is listed to the right and all are welcome.
